Thread: Shooters?

  1. #21
On the .22 front, I picked up a Ruger MkIII 22/45 - basically one of the most reliable .22 pistols ever made with a 1911-ish interface. The best of both worlds. It's not small, but if I were to pack for self defense, I wouldn't pick a .22 - my 9mm would be strapped to my bod.

    THAT is a cool plinker.

I think you could shoot a hole in the "o" of a Coke can pretty easy.

I love em. I had a couple over the years. A little file and polish and you could get 1000 rounds without a jam. We used them for jacks and varmits on the fly.

With the 2245 at the range tonight and the stock open sights, 10 yards = 2" groups pretty easily, with about a second between shots, not a lot of time. Punched 40 rounds through a 3" area.

At 25 yards (heck I can't even SEE that far), I hit the red on the official pistol targets ~25/30 times... it really is a little tack driver. The guys in the next lane were blasting with a couple of .357 revolvers, and I think we both wished we could use the other's pistols... They loved the thing. I can see a long term relationship beginning.... :)

jeepster, PM me your address. next time I go I'll get you some targets.

Used to never walk the stream or enter the field without my S&W Model 29. Now i always carry bear spray. Used it personally at least 5 times on griz, black, and brown bears. Seen it used on a polar bear. Works every time and no animal to skin. In another career i used it on people. Worked every time. However since i'm a certified gun nut . . . when wilderness tripping . . . i still carry an 44 mag American 2 shot derringer ( @3"' barrels) . . . just because. Round ball plink grouse with it. Never a bear . . . yet. Favorite handgun is a S&W model 34 (32 cal) 4" kit gun. PS i am no longer a card carrying NRA member.

I was fighting with the database on our other project for a while before I went to the range... it was therapeutic. :)
