Re: Trout(less) Saison Opening
That was some fast moving water. Sorry no trout, at least the breakfast spread looked tasty.

Re: Trout(less) Saison Opening
Our season started yesterday, same weather but better water conditions for us. No fish for me either. :(
Hope a great season is coming for you.

Re: Trout(less) Saison Opening
Sorry to hear that, but like the picture of breakfast--brings back fond memories. I used to fish a small stream that runs through Bad Bertrich, near Cochem, quite often. A lovely stream with nice browns, graylings, and even a few rainbows (not sure how they got there). I think what I liked most about fishing in Germany was the near solitude in absolutely beautiful surroundings. I'm sure your optimism will stay up for a great season.
Where did you fish that day? Just curious, I doubt if I'm familiar with it.

Nice report!
Congratulations on the opening day anyway.
Even without fish, two of you are smiling happily :D

Re: Trout(less) Saison Opening
My heart sank for you when I saw the condition of the river, but still, that breakfast looked rather good, and I bet it was just awesome to be back out again :)
Great photos, looking forward to seeing more of your first trout :)

Re: Trout(less) Saison Opening
That water is ugly. It looks like our runoff. A sad time for small stream fisherman. I've tried my streams lately, but no luck so far. The water is very low and clear, but still in the 30's for temp. I have no clue where the fish go when it's like this. I can see everything, but no fish in sight.
Today we're getting more snow. This is depressing. :(

Aah, the anticipation of a Spring opening day...a shame nature didn't want to play ball,
but a least your out in the fresh air, enjoying a hearty breakfast & cuppa, & sharing that time in the company of a friend.
I'm sure there'll be a willing fish or two next time...
oh, and the loop reels are a lovely piece of equipment.
