    Slippery Suckers

Autumn showers prior to a quick fishing trip on Sat, brought out these little suckers...

Ideal conditions, wet foliage & long damp undergrowth.

Leeches are harmless enough, once the've had thier fill they drop off.
Instead of fishing, my wife spend most of the time checking her legs for creepy crawlies !
And she's supposed to be a country girl

Just don't scratch the bite marks or you'll be scratching for days & days......

    and...we caught fish

    Take care out there,

I do have to say that I am glad that we don't really have to worry about those things here in Washington. The ticks on the eastside of the state are bad enough!

We also have leeches, and they just look like yours.
It was just after I had moved into this area more than 20 years ago. Once on a rainy September day, I walked through a long bushy trail to go back to the car after fishing. The hike was rather long, so I had changed waders to hiking shoes. When I got to the car, my white socks looked bright red; they were stained with my blood. There were tens of leeches on my legs or in the socks. :x
After that, I became very careful about my clothing.

By the way, the fish IS beautiful! I like those clear large spots on the body.

    gigharborflyfisher,
My better half wishes they weren't here in Australia. Bull ants & jack jumpers she can handle, snakes, well she tends scream out in panic at the site of a snake or lizard. :o
For me, I'm a bit squemish of big hairy legged spiders....trouble is, being the man of the house, the job of hairy legged spider remover, seem to fall squarely on my shoulders...

    Satoshi,
Yes, they're very stealthy creatures, you just don't know there attached until you see the trail of blood or feel their coolness under your sock.
    I know I shouldn't scratch their itchy bites.....but I can't help it.
