An original vintage whaling blubber pike with an iron hook and long wooden handle. This maritime tool was used to grip, pull and maneuver large sections of blubber during whale processing.It remains in untouched, as-found condition with the natural wear and character and smell of an old in use working tool. The dark wooden handle shows age-related wear.The iron head has surface rust, pitting and a deep, naturally aged patina. It remains firmly attached with its old fastening pins.The pike has not been cleaned or restored. An impressive piece for a maritime, nautical, whaling or New England historical collection. Please examine all photographs carefully, as they are an important part of the description.Overall length: 52 inches.
