$124.99

Vintage Japanese-style jizaikagi / irori hearth hook featuring a long bamboo or wooden shaft with an attached hand-carved wooden fish.
This traditional form was used with Japanese irori hearths, where adjustable hanging hardware suspended kettles or cooking pots over the fire. The carved fish is a distinctive decorative element commonly associated with jizaikagi hearth hooks.
The fish is finely carved with visible scales, fins, eye and tail details and is attached to the shaft with metal hardware. The long tapered shaft has a warm aged finish, cord wrapping near the lower section, a side opening, and a hanging cord at the upper end.
