Vintage 1930’s Folk Art Shed Made Bait Box Birch Bark Dated 1938 & Initialled:
$103.13

A very charming and honest piece of 1930s Scandinavian folk art in the form of a shed made fisherman’s bait box.Handcrafted in 1938, the box features a rounded outer body wrapped in a thick sheet of natural birch bark that has aged into a rich, golden/amber and silver/grey patina. The flat wooden back features a clever, hand carved sliding paddle lid that opens smoothly to reveal the inner bait chamber.Deeply incised into the wood are the maker's initials, "E.P.", alongside a date of 1938. Complete with its original, weathered leather loop strap, early tacks, and oxidised metal reinforcement bands, this piece remains structurally sound with an honest charm and time-worn character.Condition is decent, commensurate with age and use. Some age related wear and splits to the outer bark, and to the leather straps. Some rusting to the metal racks.Measures 23.5cm x 9cm x 7.5cmWeighs 148.95 grams
