Rare Antique Sterling Silver Articulated Fish Form Spice Box Holder One of Kind:
$1065.00
A stunning and rare antique Judaica spice box (besamim) in the form of a fully articulated silver fish. The craftsmanship here is extraordinary. Each overlapping scale is individually formed and hinged, allowing the body to flex and move with a fluid, lifelike quality. The head is finely detailed with a sculpted eye, open mouth, and articulated jaw, while the fins and sweeping tail are rendered with great naturalism. A small functional compartment within the body would have held cloves, cinnamon, or other aromatic spices. The aged silver patina lends warmth and authenticity to this exceptional piece.Marked 925 on tail.
