Rare Antique French Fish Plate, Porcelain with Hand Painted Flounder, Circa 1865:
$68.00

This is a handsome antique fish plate, likely part of a large service. These sets were very popular during the Victorian period, both in America and Europe. Such a service would have had oyster plates a huge fish shaped platters. This may be a dinner plate or a serving plate. You can imagine a long mahogany dining table set with a complete service for 49 of your closest friends. This wonderful plate is likely French porcelain and amazingly decorated in unusual colors to enhance the dining experience. One of the best examples I have ever owned.

Fine condition with some wear to the gilt on the scolloped rim.

French, circa 1865
