THE STONE WAS PALE CALEDON BUT HAS NOW RUSSETED AND TURNED BROWN AND BLACK.THE PENDANT IS A DETAILED CARVING OF A TILAPIA. THIS KIND OF DETAILED CARVING WAS THE UNIQUE STYLE OF THE SONG DYNASTY, CHINA, FROM 960-1279 AD..THE HEAD OF THE FISH IS PLAIN AND SMOOTH WITH GROOVED ROUND EYES AND SMALL MOUTH.THE DEMARCATION OF THE HEAD FROM THE BODY IS NOTICED. THE SCALES ARE NEATLY GROOVED WITH INTERCONNECTED OVAL SHAPES JUST AS ARE SEEN ON FISHES ON BOTH SIDES OF THE BODY.THE SMALL TAIL OF THE TILAPIA IS SHOWN THIN GROOVED LINES.THE DORSAL FINS ARE REPRESENTED BY A SLOPING BACKWARDS GROOVED LINES ON TOP OF THE FISH.ALSO THE PELVIC , PECTORIAL AND THE ANAL FINS ARE NOTED UNDER THE FISH.THERE IS A PERFORATION IN THE MOUTH AREA FOR HANGING.
