It's unsigned but demonstrates the artistic vitality and immediacy of this American, regional coastal seascape painting movement. The painting's seemingly wet and realized with a kinetic conceptual temperament. The sky is the familiar platinum gray with hints of light blue, often witnessed off the coast, which artists favored along the Atlantic seaboard in New England, from Provincetown to Ogunquit, Maine. The famous platinum sky allowed filtered sunlight, which helped painters achieve more natural color, used to depict the scene before them, with artistic confidence. The gestural painting is more of an oil sketch than a labored painting. But this is exactly what makes it relevant and so beautiful. Extremely direct and quickly rendered. For those who prefer their art alive, rather than dead on arrival.CONDITION:Very Good to Excellent overall vintage condition.
