Here’s a beautiful piece for your table or vanity!This semi-antique hand-carved abalone shell shines with the brilliance ofmother-of-pearl! An entire shell is used to capture a village scene – a fishermanplaces his catch into a holding tank outside his village. Magnificent treesshade the man, while intricate grasses make for a delightful, pastoral scene!This piece is done mostly in openwork with some etching to delineate shapes andmotifs.
This piece was likely made in China in the early-to-mid20th c. It is unsigned. The piece is free-standing with a built-inbrass stand.
