Antique Karl Kunz Kesselstadt Germany Silver Articulated Fish Spice / Snuff Box:
$999.99

You are looking at an antique German silver spice / snuff box made by a famous silversmith by the name of Karl Kurz from Kesselstadt, Germany (it is marked on his tale, the initials, which show that it came from him and that he was a jeweller of gold and silver). This mark was used between 1877 (when the company was founded) until about 1911, then around 1929 again (Karl Kurz died in 1936). The spice / snuff box is in the shape of an articulated fish. He has scales, fins, a tail, eyes (beads that are pink in color), a mouth that opens to sprinkle whatever you put in there, out. His whole head is hinged to open up as well (you can store more in there). He lays on his belly well, since he has the 2 fins behind his head under his belly, they act as a stand. You see in one of my photos how he is articulated (bending like a fish would). The fish spice / snuff box is about 6\" long x 1.5\" tall x 1\" wide. His storage area in his head (more in his body, the head is like a lid) is about .5\" deep x just over 1\" x .75\" (it is oval shaped). Inside the fish mouth it is almost 1\" deep. The fish weighs 2.5 Ounces. A really fun piece for the collector of German Silver spice / snuff boxes. Thanks for looking!
