Glass floats, glass fishing floats were once used by fishermen in many parts of the world to keep their fishing nets, as well as long lines or drop lines afloat. My great-grand uncle told me that he found these glass fishing floats after a big onshore windstorm hit Fort Walton Beach Florida. Some were blown on the end of a blow pipe and a gather of glass was applied to the hole after it was taken off the blowing rod. Other fishing floats were made by machine-made floats sealed and American floats have a flattened base. I do not know the origin of these glass floating fishing floats, but they are simply eye-catching! My mother used them to decorate the inside of a lead crystal bowl and this was a magnificent combination of glass workmanship! Enjoy! Thank you for looking!
