I tried and tried to get his interview for smallstreams.com I still have the letters that were sent back from his publisher requesting an interview...

But a friend in Tenkara knows him and put me together with John and we ended up doing the interview.

Good job Adam, nice you got to talk to him. I liked the writers that have influenced him Hemmingway etc. It was interesting in that you shared the big island tragedy with him. That event is what got me into guiding over here on the Big Island. I don't want any one to die for a fish. I would imagine that fishing has gotten him to meet some very cool people like Lefty, and has gotten him on some nice water. Being an insider in the industry has some wonderful perks. thanks for posting the interview, Don.
