Belize?

Hello Smallstreams:

I'm headed for Belize in a month and hope to get in some fishing, along with some other relaxing endeavors with my wife. We'll be spending some time in the Cayes and then down in the Placencia region. We're still in the planning stages and while I do plan on fishing, I don't plan on hiring a guide -- I'm hoping to wade some flats DIY-style while the wife relaxes. I've read quite a bit on the internet already about touristy-type things to do, and a little about the high dollar lodges, but those aren't really our style or budget. I thought someone here may have a recommendation or two they'd be willing to share -- and not just fishing, anything worth doing in the region. Please PM me if you'd prefer.
