    Hello fellow Small Stream Anglers

Hello all. My name is John, and I'm from North Eastern Colorado. Out where the land is flat and covered in Corn fields and cow pastures. I live in a small farming community that sits in the Republican River Valley. And that is my small stream, The North Fork of the Republican River. Its not much of a stream, but there are some wild brown trout and the occasional hatchery escaped rainbow. Also some smallmouth, and largemouth bass. The best part is there isn't hardly anyone who fishes it. Most days I never see another living soul. I write a small blog called " The Republican River Experience. Please feel free to check it out and see what you think. Thanks for letting me be a part of your group. Johnny D

I can just imagine what it must be like to fish there---truly an unnoticed but beautiful part of the country for most. Wray is not a destination which is its attraction. Welcome to the group and please, feel free to share some of those North Fork fishing pictures and reports. I for one would like to see 'em.

Thank you for the kind words ksbioteacher. Its true the Republican is not and never will be a trout destination. Though trout are present, I probably catch a hundred 12 inch creek chubs to every one trout. But its home water, and there are fish in it. For me and my kids its more of what we call Huck Finn Fly fishing. The adventure is going out, seeing what there is to see, and sometimes even catching some fish. BTW if you have never spent an afternoon with a kid catching 10-12 inch creek chubs on dry flies on a 3wt its about as much fun as can be had on a fly rod.
