Posting: Loss of the easy to use interface

I don't know about you guys but I am not posting so much here and it is directly related to the loss of our posting interface.

It used to be that we had a nice set of buttons that you could use to change the size of the font, the color, post Youtube videos, all sorts of cool things.

Now all that is left is Icons.

    Icons.

Seems like we lost it during a upgrade.

I'm not a tech person, I make web sites that "I" like to use. Gus made this web site and I don't think that he waxed the interface on purpose or even noticed it. I know he is a tech person.

    I am not.

    I like simple.

    Gus, what happened?

    It's not easy any more.

If I go here: http://smallstreams.com/faq.php I have to find what I'm looking for: http://smallstreams.com/faq.php?faq=...b3_attachments

That took me a couple of minutes but I did not see any simple directions to posting an image.

    I will look again.

This is what I got after a couple of more minutes.

No reflection on you Gus but I think this is one of the reasons why that there has not been more posts.

My suggestion is to revert to easy.

Easy does not mean stupid, it means easy and I believe when it comes time after fishing, tying, traveling and relaxing, we could make it easy for our guys.

    Gus, what do you think?

    ----------

How do I add an image to a post?

If you have uploaded an image as an attachment, you can click the arrow next to the 'Attachment Icon' and select it from the list. This will be inserted into your post and can be located where you want it displayed.

To include an image that is not uploaded as an attachment and is located on another website, you can do so by copying the full URL to the image, (not the page on which the image is located), and either pressing the 'Insert Image' icon or by typing after it, ensuring that you do not have any spaces before or after the URL of the image. You can insert pictures from your albums (?) in this way too.

    Oh, oh...

Look, look up to the upper right for "SETTINGS" and click on that. Then after clicking on that, go down to the bottom left of that page for "GENERAL SETTINGS" and click on that. Then about all the way down there is a section about "MISCELLANEOUS OPTIONS"in there you will find an "ENHANCED INTERFACE" for full WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) set of buttons. Click on the "ENHANCED SETTING" and you get what I was complaining about.

So let's see if this works.

Not to hijack your thread Adam but are any of the streams you frequent in AZ threatened by the fires there?

    That was last year...

    Not as of yet.

Trying to see what you mean, adam...

This is what the "Quick Reply" WYSIWYG bar should look like:

and this is what the full one should look like (when you "go advanced from a quick reply, or post a new thread/reply to one):

If you hover over the buttons/icons it should give you a tool tip as well.

On the no posting, I figure it's doldrums and the proliferation of personal easy to use blogs for people to post their stories on their "own" site rather than software, but who knows.

Are those images what you see when posting?

    Unreal.

    You got it.

I want the bottom one for everyone everywhere all the time.

    Simple is good.

The bottom one only happens when you click the "+Reply to Thread" button or the "Go Advanced" one and open a page to edit/compose your message. I can't find any option to enable it in the quick reply box...

I got the setting straight, thank you so much.

I'm trying to make the same thing over there, no can do.

    Same as here.
