The company of friends always is the winner in my book. Sharing the experience with others and being able to laugh at the good and bad parts of the trip Trumps the solo trip.

I will admit this was a fun trip, but I still dragged my wife down into the canyon so I wasn't solo .

If you can enjoy the time spent by yourself, that is key. It makes taking a friend that much better. If we can't enjoy it ourself, I don't see much use...
