Rumours..

Heard a whisper on the wind, that there may be a rare self sustaining brookie stream in the new england area, here in Oz.
After wading through the chaff, an internet search provided a single forum post, 3 years old. So I emailed the author in the vain hope that he might share this rarity. Fortunatly for me he did.

A cold spell rolled in, standing in cargo pants, hands numb & eyes watering from the icy biting wind, my brook trout virginity was lost ......

Its a very rare stream indeed that holds brookies in this neck of the woods,
a special & finite resource, so yes... my lips will be tightly sealed.

I was wondering the same thing, satoshi.

There are several Trout Acclimatisation Societies in New South Wales, so I'm guessing they've tried to introduce brook trout
into certain streams in the past, without much success... so stopped stocking them.
Of the 2 trout hatcheries in NSW (one in the north & one in the south of the state)
the southern trout hatchery still produces brook trout... mainly for stocking the many dams & lakes for recreational fisherman.
