A Lonely Day in the Company of Wild Life!

Saturday morning; and I'm still suffering with the remains of "Sinusitis and a real bad Headache" but, a few pills to ease the pain, saw me at the side of my favourite mountain stream by 11.45am, the water was low and extremely clear, the fish are incredibly spooky! the greenery is increasing at an alarming rate, giving the canopy extra opportunities to steal your flies and make any form of casting, or presenting a fly on the water, almost impossible! - But, don't you just love the challenge.

I was completely alone, breathing clean fresh air; and soaking up the beauty that mother nature had provided (just for me) so generously!

I could not be bothered with greasing up my silk line, that I would normally use with my cane rod! So, I decided to use the 6ft,#2,weight, Hardy Flyweight Rod, teamed with a 2.5, A J Forbes Tungsten Reel; and a Mastery GPX fly line! This is an extremely lightweight outfit, that even a 6in, WBT can put a real nice bend in.

The weather was fine, Dry and Warm; but not too warm, just a real pleasant day; and I just knew it was going to get better? I'm always optimistic! And it started well, with me hooking a 10in fish on my second cast, but it was going to be one of those days, were you hook in to everything! - Trees, Bushes, plants, stones in the stream and even yourself, Ouch! I spent more time untangling my flies from trees - than I did actual fishing. Although, I was just so pleased to be there, that all these hick-ups were just a minor set back to what turned out to be another fantastic day!
I just love fishing small streams!
