Hello From Gardnerville, NV

As a way of introduction, my name is Dan Sedergren and I'm currently the president of High Sierra Fly Casters based in Gardnerville, NV. For those of you not familiar with the area, Gardnerville is in the Carson Valley about 16 miles South of Carson City, the state capitol. We're about 25 min. from Lake Tahoe and most of my small stream fishing is done in Alpine and Mono counties along the eastern slope of the Sierra.

I've been fishing small streams since 1952 and fly fishing since 1957. My favorite small stream rods are a Steve Kiley 7 ft 4 wt., and a 7 1/2 Phillipson Peerles 5 wt.

One of the major headaches experienced by small stream fly fishers is determining the land holder status on streams you might be interested in fishing. The BLM Surface Management Maps at 1:100,000 scale don't provide sufficient detail for my taste so I've discovered a great on-line resource that's free. Check out the Public Land Survey System (PLSS) at geocommunicator.gov.
