I've fished that stream many times, most of the time when I'm taking someone new to fly-fishing out or new to cutthroats. Last summer there were far fewer trout than in previous years---probably due to the floods from the prior year. There is symmetry in the fact that this stream introduced you and James to fly fishing and to cutthroats. Thanks for re-sharing your memories of good times, good places and good friends.

Have you fished the lake?

We tried it by the outlet for about an hour that day and didn't even see a fish.

I haven't gone up to either of the main lakes in that drainage. Usually when I fish there it is because I have a very limited amount of time. (For instance, like this May when I'll be there with my family to run the Bolder Boulder road race. We will spend some time in the park but that is not our primary goal.) There are other lakes in the park that require just as much energy to get to but generally have a better reputation. Some don't have trails into them. Great trip story: Nice Browns and Cutts. The sight fishing on the lake sounds like it was indeed a blast...even for Randy!

Here's hoping that the fish make a comeback from the flooding.
