    Just far enough outside Boulder...

"Trout Bum" keeps ending up on my reading stand. The pacing is just my speed right now. Jim's from just up the road a bit. I think that this is the year to show the kids flyfishing. The last spring snowstorms are coming through. Here's the timelapse of the last one:

Watch the tree in the foreground right. For the first time in a long time, the fly gear is in the van, ready to go when I am. Time to get back on smallstreams again...

For teaching kids, at least consider tenkara. The 11' Iwana is light as a feather and there's no line control to worry about.

Was visiting family not far from you last week, and got up to the N. St. Vrain between the last two snows. I do miss it.

    Thanks for the welcome.

One nice thing about Boulder is that it is a big adult playground, where many whims are indulged, not matter what the cost. For me, this manifests itself in the form of a steady stream of really great gear showing up at garage sales a few years later for pennies on the dollar. In exchange for a few weekend mornings (7:30-8:30am, the golden hour) hitting garage sales in the nicer parts of the city, I've assembled three mid-level fly rigs (rod/reel/vest/flies/tools/books) and more tie gear than I'll ever use for under $200 total. Now it's time to get on the water to see what works and see what needs to be upgraded.
