Greetings, all. I'm Lane in northern Virginia, though I grew up in the Rocky Mountain West. I fly-fish year 'round and can't remember the last month I didn't catch a fish on the fly. In March it was chain pickerel. In February, it was rock bass and redbreasts. I consider the Potomac River my home water now and chase shad, stripers, and smallmouth in it before and after work as often as possible from April through September. That mighty Potomac may be my home river.

But my soul is in small streams. I have caught and released native brook trout in 20 Virginia streams and my favorite streams have kitchen sink and bathtub sized plunge pools. I try to make an annual trek back to the rockies for cutts and will be doing so again this year. I dream of small streams.

A rockroller, by the way, is not a music fan. That's what we called cased caddis larvae when I was a kid in the Rockies. Though here in Virginia, no one uses the term.
