Last w/end
Last w/end was a long weekend here in Oz.
Manage to slip away for an overnight camp & all day fish.
Arrived mid afternoon....made camp, set up my rod & headed upstream.
Weather,hot & sticky....36c - 96.8f and almost 100% humidity.Not a breath of wind.
A quick hour & a half of fishing before dusk. Fish were just as willing as on the last trip.It seems the weather was reading my mind,an afternoon storm rolled in, bringing much needed cool relief from the sauna like conditions.....before the light slowly faded away.
Pleasantly soak to the skin, I stared into the glow of the campfire, mesmerized, thoughts drifting..aimlessly.
Fresh new day.First rays of sunshine.Up & at them.A gin clear stream, more pretty fish, clear blue skies,& a relaxing, natural jacuzzi, just to loosen those rock hopping muscles, before turning round & heading back downstream to pack up camp & head home.
Sometimes it does feel o' so good to be alive........

Happy Australia Day! Its always comforting to know that its hot and summery somewhere. January is a tough month for small stream trout fishers here.

Thanks Jmp,
As sure as Night follows Day,seasons change too.......warmer weather is just around the corner.
Theres me thinking of a winter, week long camping / fishing trip to Tasmanian highlands !
Either late this season ending in April or early next season starting in August...Its just an itch that's been aching to be scratched for a while now.

Beautiful stream and fish.
I never imagined there was such a mountain stream in Australia.
Thank you for posting.
And if you go to Tasmania, I would very much like to see the report.

Re: Last w/end
During the Viet Nam war in 1970 I had an R&R in Sydney, Australia. I spent the days on "Pub Call" and the nights at King's Cross in Sydney. To think I could have spent my time living your photos instead makes me want to cry. As a young single Ist Lieutenant in the U.S. Marine Corps flying choppers in I Corps I only had one thing on my mind back then. I thank God He gave me the chance to enjoy His non human creation today. Keep the photos coming so I can see what I missed and repent of my wayward past.
