3 Seasons....
3 seasons is a looong wait between trout trips....:crying:
6hr drive over, I made camp under headlamp, insects fluttered around the source of the light.
Overhead slate grey thunder clouds, rumbled & grumbled, lit up with internal flashes of lightning.
In the camp clearing, fireflies flickered on & off, drifting like hot embers on the breeze....
Bleary eyed in the early hours, I took note of a heavy shower rat-ta-tap-tapping on my tarp,
then rolled over, warm & snug in my hammock.
A Kookaburra's iconic call woke me just before dawn, regular as clockwork.
Skipped breakfast. Packed, then drove a short distance to a small stream I know & love.
Soft & silent under foot, dark shady rainforest canopy above.

Slippery rocks & clay banks, wet ferns, downed tree's to go through, over & under.
Annoying Horsefly's buzzed & nipped at my exposed legs if I stood still for too long.
Trout were holding in the deeper pools....

A spectacular little stream. Lush. Green. Redolent. The trout make a fine excuse for taking time to savor such environs.

Thanks ksbioteacher, I was hoping the last couple of dry seasons hadn't effected them too much.
It's like a little rainforest time capsule down there...cut off from the effects of the outside world.
