Rough Water Wulff's
I tied up a few large Ausable Wulff flies with the intention of fishing them in fast, rough water. Sunday evening I put them to the test. The flies were highly visable, and floated well in the swift waters. The hits were few but when I did hookup.....WOW..... I knew there was a fish on the line.
I brought two of these large meals with me, one is in a trouts lip, the other is alongside of a rock, I guess.
An Ausable Wulff tied on a #10 streamer hook. Not exactly Small Fly Funk.

The Farmington River has lots of fast, rough water. Larger trout will hold in certain places and take larger flies.

I managed to bring a few to net with BHPT's and a Bomber.

Re: Rough Water Wulff's
Great looking fly. I can just imagine a small trout continually bumping it trying to get it in its mouth.

I also really like those Ausable Wulffs on a cloudy day when you are all out of options. Great work and very nice tie. Thank you for sharing.

Re: Rough Water Wulff's
great fly and nice pics. really nicely tied. any way i could order/purchase a few of those in a smaller size some time?
i love it when there is white or in your case, custom yellow, up top on a dry fly for visibility. when the sun goes off the water other flies are often really difficult to see.
