Southern Oregon Fly Tyers invite you to attend their next meeting, at
the Madrone Hill Mobile Home Park community center building near Gold Hill.

SOFT meeting, Tue., Feb. 12, 6 PM.

Our February meeting will feature two guest tyers for the tie-along session featuring our new video camera system. Dick Bonamarte will be demonstrating the Polar Shrimp, a popular steelhead fly. This one features a inovative method of securing the wing. And Mark Teeters will show off two of his favorite patterns, the Mole and the E/C caddis. So bring along your tools and the materials listed below to learn some new patterns and techniques.

POLAR SHRIMP
Hook: Steelhead sizes 2-8
Thread: Fluor. Orange 6/0
Tag: Flat gold tinsel
Tail: Red hackle fibers
Body: Orange seal fur or substitute
Rib: Oval gold tinsel
Collar: Orange hackle
Wing: White Arctic Fox, Polar Bear, Kid Goat, or calftail

MOLE
Not a speck of mole fur in the Mole. It's a damp BWO emerger.
Just 2 ingredients:
Natural Dun or (dyed Blue Dun) CDC and brown beaver underfur dubbing. Pheasant Tail can also be used for the body.
Hook TMC 101 or mustad 94840 (sizes 14-18)
Thread 6/0 or 8/0 brown, black, or dun.

Tail: ginger antron or zelon
Abdomen:Ginger haretron
Wing:Deer body
Hackle:Dun Saddle
Thorax: Green Bunny

To get to the SOFT meeting location, take the Gold Hill exit, #40, off of I-5 and go west, toward Jacksonville, 1.3 miles, until you reach the brick entrance way to the Madrone Hill Mobile Home Park on the right. You’ll pass a golf course parking lot on your left shortly after leaving the freeway. After turning right into the mobile home park, proceed to the community building which is located about 100 yards ahead on the left. The address is 8401 Old Stage Rd.
