Aloha Luke and I will be in Montana in July and we like to fish small streams like this one. My previous small stream rod is a 6'6" TFO finesse model. It is nice but I just got the new TFO 1/2 wt rod and reel combo. The rod is 5' and would be perfect for tight spaces and bushy streams.

It will make hooking little dinks like this seem like an Ulua!

The reel is a BVK 0 and is a large arbor but only a click and pawl model.

The rod is built on the finesse taper and is accurate at close range, 5-30 feet. I loaded it with an Orvis superfine 1 wt line and it will cast up to about 60 feet. I think Luke and I will be fighting over who gets to use this one in Big Sky country on those litle feeder streams. Wish us luck in July, Mems.

Looks like a sweet little rod Don, the reel looks cool too. Perfect.

You don't need luck although if you have luck, you don't need to be good.

Oh, 1 - 2 weight or .5 weight? Takes a one weight line lightly loaded or a two weight and fully loaded? What gives?

Hey Adam, it is a .5 wt rod. I put a 1 wt orvis line on it. It should be perfect for little trout in little creeks. Wow it is June already. Have a great summer everyone, Don.

I have been wanting one of those rods but not have found one. May I ask where you bought it?

Aloha, I am a sales rep for TFO and Rick Pope sent me a demo to try out on my trip to montana. I think you should be able to get the set up at any fly shop that carries TFO. I don't know if any of the big box stores have it in stock, but Cabelas does carry TFO. Your local shop should be able to order the rod and reel for you. If you have problems contact me at kickithilo@yahoo.com or contact TFO. I hope this helps, it is really a fun little rod and reel. All the best, Don.

Just recently obtained the TFO 1/2 with the BVK-0- spooled a cortland clear water WF1F and it works nicely with that line ..put an Airflo WF3F and it really loads nicely, fun combo for Bluegills and medium size Trout here In Oregon ...even with the big rivers here in the PAC NW I always seek out small streams and tribs off these famous waters, I find I'm just as successful fishing small streams as I am the big rivers...catching as many or more fish and I like the privacy and closeness of the small unknown lightly fished streams ...

Recently also purchased a Dorber 4'6 Lil Streamer fly rod any one have Experience with this rod ?

Thanks
Paul
