Played hooky this morning (the beauty of working at home) and walked down the road to the creek to see if anyone wanted to play.
There were still a few Steelhead left under logs and jams but either a perfect drift was needed to get close to them or they had lockjaw when the drift was just right.
Clear water and sunny skies and I bet the few that were left had sore lips.

Caught a few small Bows and Browns but the surprise catch was this cutie that snatched a Beadhead Hares Ear seconds after it hit the water in a pool I had previously fished.

Beautiful day to be free anyway

Nice....though I'm not able to conceive of observing and being tempted by steelhead while catching brookies. Just not a possibility where I do most of my fishing. But, I'm heading to New York next week--who knows what might happen.

Steelhead have been up the stream early and are mostly dropped back now.
The few that I saw that are left are about 3-5lb range and spooky as hell in the skinny water.
Ya get em while ya can, a few may be back in the Fall.

I like it; and that's a nice Brookie; but, what do you have in that Hip-Flask?
