Gin Clear Creek

Except for some roadworkers doing their best to light up the night.....the long trip south of the Queensland border was uneventful.

With dawn slowly gathering in intensity, ignoring my tiredness, I prowled the banks of this crystal clear stream.
Being shallow & open, the fish were extremely skitish in this section, .....scratching your nose had them torpedo-ing for cover. :crying:

I continued to explore, eventually the rainforest & creek combined...& the fun began.
Bang !.....what the ! .....it felt like a jack russel terrier on the line, angrily shaking its head & flying through the air. :w00t:
A very chunky brown of 2lbs had taken a dark lightly weighted nymph....& was going berserk.
I was only expecting lots of eager half pounders and maybe the occasional one & half pounder. He must have
been the resident fatso.......king of the stream.
Unfortunately the 'king' dropped off at my feet, I lunged & scooped....but he quickly finned into deeper water, too safety & freedom.

Scared a lot of fish at first.....just wasn't in the slow, methodical, pretend to be a 'Heron', stalking mode yet. :rolleyes:

I'm always curious to see the new pools, runs, trout holding lies & bolt holes, and whats around the next bend.......
....theres a tinge of sadness in me when I have to turn around & start heading back downstream to the car.
