Aloha went to Molokai for a couple of days to chase some big bonefish. Went with a couple of buddies, Eric and Doug. There are some big hungry bones on Molokai.

Went out early from the harbor at kaunakakai.

Captain Clay Ching took us out to the flats in his boat. Really beautiful flats there.

We all got into some papio, small jacks. This one is a barred jack.

The papio were scrappy fighters, and would readilly take a fly if it was moved fast.

Doug hooked into a nice 8lb bone. They say they are hard to spot in the water, but Doug is helping out here with the tip section of his rod.

It was a healthy fish who made a number of strong runs. The fish we saw would chase and read eat the fly with gusto. Sad part is we didn't see many fish on the flat. The locals net them for food.

They were very inpressive fish. too bad this place has a lot of potential.

Next day Doug got another nice fish. I hooked a large bone, but he popped off when the fly line got a knot in it.

This one also put up a great fight. Too bad there aren't more of them here.

We stayed in a condo on the west side, beautiful beaches. Axis deer running around, and barking in the morning. The deer actually bark like a dog.
Last day I did some whipping down at the beach in front of our condo.

Got this papio on the first cast. Did a little snorkeling and went home back to Hilo.

Our condo from the ocean. It had a nice pool, hot tub, and tennis courts, but only a few people staying there. The locals are all anti development.

I would love to go back if they ever stop netting. I think it is a great place for trophy bones, if you can find one! Mems
