When I start feverishly checking my internet sites on a DAILY basis for river levels,
past, present & future weather conditions,
I know its time for another outing.

Finished nightshift, chucked my fishing grab bags into the car.......
sleeped for a few hours... then headed south, hugging the humid east coast of Oz,
before steadily climbing, serpent like, into the cool foothills of Northern NSW.
Our Northern limit for Mr trouts territory.

Lucky charms...even a fishy looking one ! By the way I keep losing my
footing, I need all the help I can get. Superstition or not.

I didn't noticed that a leech had fastened itself to the palm of my reel hand,
looks nasty, but wash away the blood & you can barely see any mark.

The brother of the culprit...

Man Im glad to see those Tableland streams are still Ok . I did a weekend trip there from Brisbane about 1986. Still a bait and hardwear angler at that time . Got a couple of fat rainbows in a creek that came alive in the evening . Rises everwhere and a nearly clueless spin angler on the bank . The aussie streams suffer from high temperatures and low flows but they seem to have huge ammounts of food for those fish that do survive .

Thanks Brk Trt, Apache Trout & Willowgrub.

We've had some heavy rains over the last month
& a half, wild storms, flash floods, towns cut off, but the dams are
full to overflowing & everything is green again.

Merry Xmas & enjoy the New Year.

Thank you for the nice report.
We also have leech in our area. Probably not the same species, but very similar.

I don't like leaches.

Scary little bastards.

nice trout, and interesting insects ,
some old man, teach me not to pull those leaches, but to put salt on them,
so they go easy, no harm, he says
anyway , I never had to try this,

Merry Christmas,

Nic

This thread would make a good "got a leech on me" thread.

I sometimes forget where the originator of the story resides. We awe halfway around the globe but we are brothers on the stream.

I got a kick out of this one now, twice.
