We had a break in the cold weather of last week and that was my key to fish a Class 1 wild trout mgt area. As I arrived at stream side I could see that parts of it were ice covered, a nice touch to the season. The water was as clear as I've seen on this stream.
I fished a variety of small flies that are the patterns that fit the season, BH PT's, small wet flies and a few dries. Not a lot of magic happened, the only response came to the Wulff fly. Still it was quite enjoyable to be along this small stream.
Today I'm content to roast a chicken and stay dry...........
