Anyone else here unsociable enough to still smoke,, I smoke a nice briar when I am out fishing
hard to think of anything more relaxing than to light up a pipe and sit and watch the river . So much more of a ceremony than just lighting a ciggie.. packing the pipe then the first light the deep draws to ignite the baccy getting the first tastes of the pleasure to come, Then the ritual repacking when the first light fluffs up the tobacco, Then the second light a nice even slow burn.
For lighting its an old petrol lighter for me. A Nimrod commander a lighter I found in my grandfathers tool chest , strange in itself as he never smoked a pipe and its a specialist pipe lighter. But every time I light up I remember him so worth using it just for that. At the moment I am smoking a nice american virginia number one, a nice easy smoke ready rubbed and slow burning so much more relaxing than some of those baccies that make there pleasure so much harder work to obtain. Anyway thats my ramble over with.

Eric , you are not alone ,I smoke a falcon bent stem and guess I should'nt .
But give me some fresh air and a pool that needs a thinking aproach , filling lighting and enjoying whilst watching and planning is all part of the "relax" fishing gives me !

I to love to pack up the pipe ,mine is a hand carved cherry one my dad used to smoke.
He did the carving of the pipes --I carry his ,so he still fishes with me.
Mine is in my tying room.
