We're still in the middle of run-off here on the east side of the Sierra and the major freestone streams are still running high, cold, and off color. The good news is that the small, feeder streams are in great shape and very fishable. Last evening I headed out for the second time this week to fish one of these streams located about 20 minutes from home. The stream has both wild rainbows and brook trout, open meadows, and beaver ponds; what more could you ask for?

With the sun off the water the fish are a little less spooky in runs such as this one.

Absolutely Beautiful Area!

Your so right! - What else could anyone ask for?

What rod and reel BTW? Is the reel a Hardy Cascapedia?

The rod was built by Joe Arguello of Longmont, CO. It's a 7'9" two piece 5 wt built on a Garrison 209E taper. The reel is a limited edition Peerless built for Mike Clark of South Creek Limited in Lyons, CO.

I've also got one of Joe's 7' 3 wts built on the Garrison 201E taper. The wind was up last night so I took the 5 wt rather that the 3.

Here's a little better picture of the rod.
