I started playing around with a few new macro toys last night, and appart from the depth of field being a bit out (I'll need to work on that), I think the below photos have come out okay-ish.

Just a selection of some of my favourite small flies :)

That's some tying. I'd need the hubble telescope to tie them.

Thanks guys, I'm really glad you like them :D

Adam, I don't use glasses to tie them, although after a full night at the vice my eyes do get a little sore. You're question has prompted me to maybe pick up cheap magnifying set soon...I wonder how they'd work out :)

Thanks again both!

The flies and images are great.....My "inner fish" tried to slurp the sparkle midge....

Depending on your arrangement you may not be able to develop a deeper depth of field but you can stack several images with different focal planes using various computer software packages.....google image stacking if you are not already aware of the technique. You'll find an open-source package here that does a pretty good job.

Nice midges. I have a magnifying glass cannot get use to it. I just use it now for trimming if I want to get really detailed. I suppose you can get use to it. :)

Hmmmmmm... Very impressive.
What is the material used for the spinner tails in the last picture?

I can only say that if you start to use magnifiers, give your eyes a rest now and then. Your detail work will improve as you will be able to see even smaller things...

My eyes are excellent as well but if I use the magnifiers, it hurts my eyes after a while but man, I can see the electrons moving around the atoms.

I agree with Adam; Even a 2X magnification will be a great help, not that you seem to need any. Your flies are are really neat.

I had no Idea how rough my tying was untill I went to "Macro" for a series of Step by Steps for a local magazine. Have Fun. Jax

Guys, my biggest thanks again. Hugely appreciate the thumbs up :D

Satoshi, the tails are Microfibetts. Fantastic for tailing smaller flies. Check them out by clicking here (http://www.lakelandflytying.com/1682/products/Microfibetts.aspx).

I saw a box of these ,generously donated to the Monnow Mafia auction , just unbeleivable flys , makes my poor efforts on 18s look dreadful!

These flies are just so beautifully tied and the sizes are so small, so very, very well done - would love to get my hands on them myself!
