Here are some pictures from Sunday at Big Spring Creek, PA. The brookies were going crazy on micro caddis, jumping clear out of the water to take the flies in mid air. It was truly an amazing sight, yet the fishing was still difficult. I was using my 0wt cane, and the brookies were a blast.

The first fish of the day, a brookie about 7-8 inches

I allowed my friend to use my rod for a little as he wanted to compare the 0wt cane to the 2wt that I built him

The result of my generosity

Bruddah Mems, I only did a little fly fishing for o`io back home. I was raised on spin fishing, so I've caught my fair share that way over in K-bay and out on the Kokohead/Kahala/Wailupe side. I'm gonna be around here for part of the summer before I head home, so if you like get together and talk story, let me know. Shoots den, Brett

Nice to see wild brookies and everyone Ive talked to have said that the stream is just getting better every year since they shut down the hatchery.

Its funny you say that because when we got to the stream, a Fish and Boat officer came up and talked to us for twenty minutes. He tried to talk us out of fishing big spring saying that it was no good since they closed the hatchery down. We all just smiled politely, knowing how untrue that is. Just on Sunday alone I saw a brookie pushing 18 inches and a HUGE bow about 25-27 inches. Yeah, the hatchery really helped this stream...

Aloha Brett, I will be on the mainland in July, and I live on the Big Island, but I know most of the guides on Oahu. Check out my video on the saltwater section of a bone I got at K-bay a couple of weeks ago. They are pretty easy with bait and spin gear, but a real challenge on the fly. Still a screamer on the reel no matter how you get em.

Mems, I'm actually flying back to the islands in the beginning of July. Maybe next time you are up here or the next time I'm over on the BI
