Wee dries.
The new lamp is this one from Maplins, after reading some positive comments on it I thought it worth trying http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=47980
Got to say I'm very pleased with it.

Amazing how large the stripped peacock looks on a #30. If one was not aware of the teeny-tiny (wee) hook size, one might think the peacock is a turkey or other larger biot.

Exceptional ties!

Wow... Very, VERY nice small fly tying Dennis - love the bunny dun, not easy controlling snowshoe hair at this scale.
Would be interested on your thoughts about Varivas hooks, especially the eyes on the smaller sizes. I like them a lot, but the eyes are a touch impractical on the water... any thoughts...?
The K1A's, TMC and Daiichi seem to have thought a little more about this issue.

Just lovely!

Best,
Andy

What would Feud say about all the small flies?
Great work, the bunny dun is such a versatile looking pattern.

To be honest Andy, I'm not a great fan of the 2300, eye issue aside, I find it far too soft in the wire. It's a hook I won't be replacing when I run out.
I actually think tempering is something that Varivas haven't quite got their heads round in their fine wire hooks. In contrast to the 2300 I love their iwi F-2000, but it is brittle. Although the wire is brittle, because of the shape/design of the hook it's actually strong enough to withstand hooking and playing fish, but I've broken several unhooking fish.

What would Feud say about all the small flies?

I'm not sure, but I'm sure words like symbol, extension and phallic would be included.
