This is based on Rik Takahashi's Bow-tie buzzer design. I've scaled back on the multiple triggers of fine silver wire rib, bright goose biot cheeks and mylar flash wing case... and kept the signature gills, tied at right-angles to the hook shank - I love this style of gill, a very cool innovation.

Hook: Daiichi 1270 #22
Thread: Uni Trico
Abdomen: Stripped peacock quill, olive
Gills: White zelon

This is where Uni Trico excells - the very low build-up allows neatly profiled head formation, and almost zero-bulk when adding the zelon gills.

Andy

And another cool sub #20 leaps from the vice
I really like stripped peacock abdomens on sub-surface flies.

Top notch tie.

Amazing isn't it? Track down Roy's U-shaped buzzer in the emerger section

Very nice tying :bigthumb: (I'm sure Rick would be impressed). I talked to him on the phone last night (he had just got back from fishing on the Juan). Lots of great midge patterns in Rick's book. The ideas are endless. With 111 different species of Diptera in Arizona alone; and over 50 species of Chironmid in places like Lees Ferry, the ideas just keep comeing when I am at the vise !!!! Don't forget midgeing on the lakes as well (very overlooked up in the Arizona White Mountains). !!!!

Once again, your tying skills are coming through in an almost mesmerizing fashion. I know these will slay the finicky trout. Thanks.
