Recipe
Hook: dry fly size 10
Thread: 6/0 tan
Body: white 3mm foam
Hackle: female black grouse feather or similar.

I tied these for New Zealand rig fishing. They might also work when fished as a single dry fly.

Nice, I saw a great indicator method on you tube that incorporates a loop at each end of the hook. Type super dropper hopper into youtube and you'll get it. It would work great with those flies.

Looks like a great panfish fly!

Easy to tie too.

That super dropper hopper is an interesting idea. Personally I use a klinkhamer (14 or 16) and attach 2 bits of fine silicon tubing (also called float rubbers) over the hook bend and eye trapping the line (the line passes through the eye) so that the depth can be fixed but also easily moved.

I got the idea from a recent issue of Fly Fishing and Fly Tying. It works really well as I can alter the depth instantly ... being a long time coarse fisherman (using bait, etc.) I love the simpilicty of this method. Much easier than tying on new droppers each time I change depth!

Mind you, I like the look of these foam indicators for the faster, boilier stretches. Lovely looking fly.

Lawrenceh_w,
thanks for reminding me of that FF&FT article. I'll have to try this method.
It'll definitely make things easier.
