Here is the registration/new member process (that will likely get tweaked, but...):

First, if you are an unregistered user and are reading this, know that there is a full community here. It is hidden from unregistered users to both protect the content and the users. If you enjoy fly fishing small streams anywhere in the world, registration is quick and easy, and you will become part of a very diverse and enthusiastic community of fly fishers here.

Users can now register freely and self validate. That way I don't have to guess who's a person and who's a spammer. That will get sorted out in a singular forum called "The Shallows."
New users with no posts have very limited access to the rest of smallstreams - frankly, if you're new, you won't even see the other forums or content.[/*:m:17uusf8x]
As a newly registered member, your one responsibility is to start a self introduction thread in The Shallows, and post in it a few times.[/*:m:17uusf8x]
Once you have verified that you're here because of what the site is about via contributing real content in your introduction, you will be given access to the rest of the content and access to participate. Like I said, there are plenty of other forums that are hidden from non-members and new members.[/*:m:17uusf8x]
By relaxing the initial security a level but limiting it to a single place, spambots and automated viagra pushers will undoubtedly post in The Shallows as well... but they will thus be obvious, and they will be caught, banned and deleted, without further polluting the deeper waters of our community's streams. I may at some point solicit a select few users to help keep The Shallows clean of obvious spam posters and users.[/*:m:17uusf8x]

**One last thing. If you are a user here and you have not made any posts, your remaining time is limited. While I understand that enjoying lurking and not feeling you have much to contribute or don't like to or whatever are all valid, to be a member of this community there is a minimum contribution. Zero posts is NOT it. One lonely post isn't either...

Thanks for your continued support!
