Hi guys - after a big roast dinner, Monday morning and another week of work looms large on the horizon...

I'm still playing with TMC 518 #32's... this is a baetid dun, influenced by Mick Hall's photogrpahy, Hisashi Suzuki's CDC Yusurika Stillborn twisted tippet shuck (morphed into a body plus tail) and driven by the thrill of catching on small hooks...

Best,
Andy

great stuff Andy
That should do good work up on the tributary
Is the body extension flexible enough for hookups?
I like the way the gape is clean, looks like a WMD for sure

Cheers Roy - had the upper bridge on the burn in mind when I tied it, where the water calms down ahead of the weed bed and #28 RC RPE's always work

The body is Zap-A-Gap and very flexible... have been trying to add a little curve in to the profile for added realism... so should also try as an USD pattern.

Guess we'll find out how well it fishesduring the summer clear-out... ;)

Take care,
Andy

Mick Hall hey, he and I have been friends for nearly 30 years. Lots of stories there.
Here are a couple of patterns that I developed a few years ago using Copydex for the body coloured with marker pens. Not very good photos but you will get some idea.

Really, REALLY enjoyed those Phillip
The yellow may especially, the translucent abdomen is fantastic and a parachute hackle is very practical on steam.
Are those on Varivas 2200-BL hooks.... lovely profile.
I'm assuming you apply the Copydex to the fibbet tails to form the body - neat innovation - would love to hear and see more.

Best,
Andy

You are right on both cases Andy. I place the fibbets into a fly holding clip and then apply 3 coats of Copydex with a needle. Tie the post in, then the body, cover up with some dubbing and then the hackle. I do the hackle separate using Spider Web.

very nice flies for sure. I love extended stuff

this is my extended midge. For the body I would twist flash a boo and bond it together with the non uv knot sence -- can't find non uv anymore and must find something else cause the uv is to brittle and hard

Hi Andy,

This maybe a bit of a silly question - but, when you say the body is zap-a-gap, is it applied over something else? Is it the zap-a-gap gel? it looks different to the liquid zap-a-gap that I have. It is beautiful looking and so transparent! Can you help me here, please  :?:

flytyer187 about those reader cheaters.
I'm already into bifocals. I guess age is just catching up. :D

Hi Jeanne - the zap-a-gap is applied over the twisted 8X mono body, three coats with permanent marker addedbetween coats and to finish. The image isn't great, the soft flash is quite penetrating.
There's a bit more at http://smallflyfunk.blogspot.com/2010/0 ... on-32.html (http://smallflyfunk.blogspot.com/2010/01/28-baetis-on-32.html)

Thanks for your comments guys... working away from home all week, it's nice to drop by smallstreams and get real for a while in the evenings... and I miss the kids and wife :(

Best,
Andy
