Hi, I had lurked on this site for a rather long time loving to just read the reports and fishing experiences of everyone else but when the fishing boards went private ( only to members ) I figured It was time to make a username. Anyway , my name is Eric. I live in the USA in New Jersey. Normally I wouldnt need to say Im from the United states but Ive noticed a very diverse crowd on here and many might not be framilier with just where New Jersey . Well just introducing myself, I hope to get out monday morning for some fishing for Native Brook trout so Im sure you will see my first report then. Anyway here are some pictures of my fishing trips you guys may enjoy :D

Hi Eric,

Welcome! There's some nice photos there of your fishing venues, they could be photos of my local stream (The Taff Fechan) here in South Wales UK. The trout season in the UK stops in September, and begins again in March; and after seeing your photos, I'm so looking forward to getting back on my local stream again! Look forward to reading your future posts!

I also have a St Croix Fly Rod, it's a 9ft,#5,weight for the larger rivers. I'm really pleased with it! But I use a 6ft.3in, #3,weight Cane Rod on the small streams!

Regards

Mostyn

Well I dont know if the stream has a name, its in lower sussex county and it requires a good two mile hike and is completly out of the way of everything. The map I have checked on has never provided a name. I personally really like dunnfield creek in its upper reaches along side this one slide pool. Never fished vancampens but I have fished nearly every stream that flows in stokes for the past few years. Every year the population seems to be getting worse and worse in those streams, I have noticed more wild fish though in the Big Flatbrook, it seems they are just being used as spawning streams more so now. They all hold residential fish but nothing of what would make a 35 minute drive worth.

Eric: Welcome aboard, man. Thanks for posting the beautiful pics. Those fish look great for the small water you pulled them from. Did you find about one fish per hole? One fish every-other hole? I'm curious about the approximate fish density in your streams, compared to what I've been finding out West, with Cutthroat.

It's great to see a young man such as yourself so passionate about fly-fishing! If you make it out to Montana, let me know, and I'll help you out. I might even send you to a stream with fish in it ;) .

Generally if you take your time and work the hole very completly you will hook atleast a fish from every pool, I tend to work faster and try and get at the more active fish. Brookies tend to hold everywhere wither it be 4 inch deep riffles where there tails are barly covered to rockly undercut ledges. They are everywhere. Regarding montana, I could only wish I could make it out there. I was thinking about taking a road trip our there though when I get my license. How is the summer trout fishing out there?
