I'm not sure of his exact method. From the pictures I think he's twisting the lines between his finger tips. I have no Japanese so I'm just guessing.

I don't speak Japanese either. His method looks completely different than most I've seen for making furled leaders. The best site I've found for furled leader construction is: http://furledleaders.proboards.com/index.cgi It's a forum, so in addition to lots of information about jigs, materials, procedures, etc., if you have speficic questions there are plenty of experienced people to jump in with advice.
