Dylan Thomas is one of my favorite 20th century poets. I have three or four hours of him reading his own work on my iPod.

Here is an all time favorite reading:

Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night (http://www.gusstrand.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2009/05/notgentle1.mp3).

I'm a big fan of poetry. TS Eliot, Poe, Thomas, Frost, and the like... Recently went down to a museum here in Austin for a Poe Exhibit - it was in the place that also houses the first photograph and a Gutenberg Bible in their permanent collection. Cool stuff seeing letters, penned scrawls of his work and the like. That guy in the photo is my 18 year old son, very much a Poe fan... and other stuff as well... he's taking a college level British Lit class for fun this year...

yep... That's the Richard Burton reading as well.. one of the best. Under Milk Wood is classic.

Here is a fun take on classic Dylan Thomas as well... the last part of "And Death Shall have No Dominion" as an intro to a cover of ELO's "Here is the News." Brave Saint Saturn is a favorite non-group of mine...

Having visited Poes' grave in Baltimore(no I'm not the mysterious stranger who lets the 1/2 empty bottle of Cognac and roses) it is so ironic that he died in a drunken stupor face down in the gutter on the streets of Baltimore. And then again, maybe it is fitting considering that Poes writing almost always involved the macabre!

Dude lived a seriously tormented life... His work is likely just penned versions of inside his head...
