Not Queensland, but just south of the Queenland border,in Northern NSW. EBOR area.
The NSW Fisheries Dept put out a "Freshwater fishing Guide',its a free download, which tells you, where, when & how.I have included the link here.

A little research into the New England Area, will provide you with a myriad of stream access points & camping areas, many within National Parks.
Hope this helps,Rossa

We.ve got several bamboo rodmakers from Australia that post on the rodmakers listserve.
Peter McKean, he's a veterinarian by trade.Nick Taranski,Tony Young (haven't heard from Tony in a while) who spends as much or more time in NZ than he does in Oz.Few others as well that slip my mind.
Look forward to seeing some of your small stream outings especially for down under trout.

Very good, I lived in Australia for a year about 5 years ago. Do you know how close to major cities like Sydney you can get trout fishing?
Thanks
Lovely looking water. I would enjoy drifting a Dry out on that lot, and I bet I'd get lucky. Good Stuff Jax

Jax,
You would love the place, but no lucky charms needed though, they're just very hungry little whippersnappers !!

Not sure about Sydney, Rossa, but email these guys http://www.sydneyflyrodders.com.au/ and they should be able to answer any questions you may have.
Anywhere in Tasmania is a 20mins drive from a trout stream...!!
Melbourne...there maybe streams within an hours drive, but my misty memory is not cooperating today.
Cheers,
Marc
